Passenger services are based on customer needs VR profitably produces and markets customer-oriented public transport services that meet the travel needs of all social groups for both work and leisure purposes. VR also utilizes the expertise and resources of other Group companies and partners in its operations, with the aim of boosting rail transports share of the passenger transport market.
VRs goal for domestic long-distance services and commuter services in the Greater Helsinki area is to create an easy-to-use service network in co-operation with other forms of public transport. In international services, VR is preparing for faster connections with Russia and strong growth in passenger travel.
Freight services provide comprehensive logistics service package VR Cargos operations are based on long-term co-operation agreements. Customers are offered not just rail transport but also a comprehensive package of logistics services in co-operation with VR Groups road transport companies. The goal is to strengthen VR Groups market share.
In international services, VR Group is focusing on developing freight services with Russia and other CIS countries. Another goal is to increase carryings of exports by Finnish industry and eastbound transit carryings, as well as to develop services to Far Asia along the Trans-Siberian route.
