Greater efficiency in harbour operations for freight traffic

The opening of Vuosaari Harbour in November 2008 has raised efficiency in VR Cargo’s customer service by bringing operations in Helsinki together in one harbour.

VR Cargo has also purchased rolling stock for the carryings of long-term customers, such as the Talvivaara mine.

Transpoint provides logistics services for road transport

One of the most visible changes in VR's road services in 2008 was harmonizing logistics services under a common Transpoint brand.

Transpoint also developed added-value services for goods handling, and has launched a new information service that enables freight customers to track the progress of deliveries.

Terminals are also being developed for combined freight transport, to make it easier to convey trucks by rail.
