Availability of labour is a challenge


One challenge the VR Group faces today is the aging of existing personnel, coupled with the availability of new labour.

The Group’s current age structure means that hundreds of employees will retire over the next few years. Competition for skilled employees is intense and VR has boosted the recruitment of new personnel. The economic slowdown is expected to temporarily increase labour availability.

The individual needs of customers and their requirements for comfortable travel are rising along with the aging population and a rising standard of living, and customers expect an even higher level of service from public transport.
