Managing responsibility takes place every day
VR’s good corporate citizenship is an integral part of the company’s normal business management, but is also emphasized through campaigns, projects and training as well as through other ways of exerting influence.
The purpose of the VR Group’s management model is to ensure that operative activities are aligned with VR’s strategy. The management model does not address responsibility as a separate entity, but instead the plans and actions relating to it are the responsibility of each Group business and an integral part of the company’s target-oriented operation.
The VR Group’s management model is based on an effective structure in which the business operations are organized in entities that are meaningful for management and operative activities. The aim is seamless cooperation between the core businesses of the different companies in order to meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders.
Corporate responsibility reporting supports management
Corporate responsibility reporting plays an important role in the way the VR Group manages its responsibilities. VR publishes a Corporate Responsibility Report each year. In 2008 VR started to report within the Group on matters relevant to corporate responsibility at four month intervals. In 2009 VR switched to quarterly reporting. The aim is to embed the management and monitoring of corporate responsibility as an established element of the Group’s ongoing operations.
