Hyvinkää–Hanko railway electrified – electric freight transport reduces emissions

With the electrification of the Hyvinkää–Hanko railway, VR’s electric freight transport has started on the railway section. The electrification of the railway will improve the efficiency of industrial rail transport and reduce the carbon footprint of transport.

VR Long-distance Traffic in Finland had an all-time year – 15.3 million train journeys and excellent customer satisfaction

A total of 15.3 million journeys were made in VR's long-distance trains in 2024, which is 1.3% more than in 2023. The number of passengers also grew in December, when 1.3 million trips were made. This is 3.7% more than in the corresponding period last year.
