Delivery of new night train wagons further delayed

The supplier of the wagons, Skoda Transtech, has faced unexpected supply chain challenges. VR and Skoda are working closely together to bring the new night train wagons into service as soon as possible.

“This is very disappointing, as both we at VR and our customers have been looking forward to the new night train wagons. There would be particularly strong demand for the additional capacity during peak holiday seasons. We will introduce the wagons into service as they are completed and provide further information once the schedule has been confirmed in more detail,” says Marika Schugk, Director of Sales and Pricing in VR Long-distance Traffic.  .

The construction, testing and commissioning of new rolling stock is a lengthy process that requires careful attention to every aspect of technical performance, safety and passenger comfort. The rolling stock was ordered from Skoda in early 2023.
