The Class 72 fleet is used in Norway’s commuter rail services and forms an important part of the country’s local passenger train network. The modernisation programme includes refurbishment and upgrade measures designed to extend the lifecycle of the fleet and enhance passenger comfort. The first modernised train has now been completed in Tillberga, Sweden.
"We are delighted to deliver this project together with Norske Tog. The contract demonstrates our ability to execute demanding rolling stock projects internationally. The completion of the first train on schedule is an important milestone for the project. It also shows that our new partnership model enables us to launch modernisation projects quickly and deliver them efficiently, even outside our own production facilities," says Peter Guldbrand, Head of Sales and project management at VR FleetCare.
The project will be carried out in phases, with all 34 trains scheduled to be modernised by 2029.
