IT has a key role in supporting VR’s transformation, competitiveness and operational efficiency. The planned changes are the next step in the company-wide IT transformation.
“We aim to build a more unified operating model for IT in the spirit of One VR, improve scalability and efficiency, and further develop our people and capabilities. If implemented, the planned changes would help make VR more efficient and competitive using technology, data and AI”, says Panu Hannula, VR's Chief Information Officer.
VR submitted a negotiation proposal on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, to initiate change negotiations concerning the entire IT organisation in Finland. The planned changes are not aimed at reducing headcount. A total of 126 employees are within the scope of the negotiations. VR employs approximately 9,500 people in total, around 6,000 of whom are based in Finland.
