VR FleetCare strengthens its position as a rolling stock maintenance expert – new contract in Sweden

VR FleetCare has signed a significant contract with AB Transitio, which is based in Sweden, on the heavy maintenance of the bogies and main power switches of Dosto (ER1) trains. The contract covers heavy maintenance work on 60 electric multiple unit trains, manufactured by Stadler, between 2026 and 2030.

VR FleetCare developed transfer bogies – the solution facilitates the transfer of rolling stock from Sweden to Finland for maintenance

On 9 January 2026, SJ’s first X40 electric train arrived in Oulu by rail from Sweden via Haaparanta and Tornio using the transfer bogies developed by VR FleetCare. In future, the solution will enable the transfer of European gauge rolling stock by rail from Sweden to VR FleetCare’s locations in Finland for maintenance or modernisation. Innovation supports sustainable development and makes the transfer of rolling stock more efficient.

VR Business Review 1 July to 30 September 2025: Profitability remained strong

In the third quarter, VR maintained strong profitability, at the previous year's level. The operating environment remained relatively stable, but customer demand in logistics was weak. Profit improvement measures aligned with the strategy progressed as planned and supported financial development. VR continues to focus on its core business while preparing for intensifying competition.
