VR sells decommissioned rolling stock

 

At VR, we contribute to the development of a customer-oriented, sustainable, and competitive rail market, for example by selling decommissioned rolling stock.

 

Through our actions, we actively promote the growth and competition of rail transport in Finland while also supporting the Finnish Government’s objectives. For instance, we sell decommissioned rolling stock that has been approved for recycling to other operators in the industry.

 

In recent years, we have put up for sale locomotives suitable for operational use, as well as freight and passenger rolling stock. As we make recycling decisions regarding locomotives or carriages, we bring the rolling stock to auction on this website.

 

VR continues its locomotive and freight wagon sales in 2026.
