Sustainability plays a central role in our business. Our purpose – Together towards a better world – guides our work toward a more sustainable society. We continuously develop our own operations to be increasingly responsible and support our customers and stakeholders in achieving their sustainability goals.

Our sustainability work is based on the company’s vision, values, and strategy. The Finnish Government’s State Ownership Policy with regard to social and corporate responsibility, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and VR’s own commitments steer our sustainability efforts.

VR’s Sustainability Agenda

VR’s Sustainability Agenda brings together the work we do across the company for the benefit of people, the environment, and society as a whole. It provides the framework for implementing VR’s sustainability efforts.

We cannot succeed in our sustainability work alone, which is why we invite partners from all sectors of society to join us. We need individuals and companies who choose environmentally friendly transport, industrial customers who invest with us in low-emission logistics, committed VR employees who develop our workplace community, as well as decision-makers and partners who help build sustainable infrastructure.
